Introduction

Nikkoel is a baby boutique that is uniquely tailored for new parents and grandparents. Inspired by the colorful themes seen on websites like Maisonette, Nikkoel is a space where simplicity meets visual vibrancy. The basic layout, bursting with accents of color, ensures an engaging browsing experience for users of all ages.

Through its unique style, the storefront becomes a charming journey that displays a meticulous attention to detail and interaction, just like the many moments of parenthood it encapsulates.

Design & Art Direction

Nikkoel's core design philosophy emphasizes simplicity. To ensure that the site's content is easy for users to navigate, I created basic block-style page modules that contain colorful headlines alongside supporting text and images.

I kept the art direction simple by curating images from Unsplash that primarily showcase baby toys and clothing in a minimal format. The goal was to allow headlines and text to overlay on top of images and take center stage.

I wanted to capture the playful energy associated with early childhood and craft a website that was fun, colorful, and easy to navigate. I incorporated dotted hover effects on product and collection links, which I felt gave off an arts-and-crafts type of look, while colorful headlines, buttons, and supporting text keeps exploration fun and engaging.

Web Development

Nikkoel offers a fast, static build for a smooth browsing and checkout process. Built for accessibility (WCAG compliant) and keyboard navigation, the site ensures a user-friendly experience across all devices.

The site content is handled by Sanity, while product and collection data is received from Shopify. Additionally, I crafted six unique page modules, enabling clients to customize pages with a consistent block-style aesthetic.
